Hooks, Line and Stotz for the Pole
I have used Kamasan hooks for many years and they have been very good - and I continue to use them. Just lately however, I have been using the Natural N10 and N20 hooks from Preston Innovations.
I have the N10 in sizes 22, 20, 18 and 16, and the N20 in sizes 18 and 16. The N10 is a great hook for Roach and they stay sharp for a long time - I have used an N10 for a whole match catching over 100 Roach. The N20 is great for larger baits and is especially good for double caster - loads of Skimmers and big Roach.
I tie my hooks to Accu Power in sizes from 0.08 to 0.12 mm.
The new ready tied N10 & N20 hooks are in my box too. So much time saved and perfectly tied every time.
I use also use the SFL-B / B560 - these are very similar hooks, one being barbless and the other has a micro barb. The N50 / B711 are almost the same. The B511 / B512 red / B611 as well as the GPM-B are also in my Preston magnetic hook boxes. That covers just about everything.
Micro Cubes (and Stotz) is the only lead I use on the line. I find it to be far superior to round split shot.
I use Accu Power in the sizes 0.12 mm (Chianti) and 0.14 mm (the rest) for my pole rigs.
This line has never let me down, just like the Reflo Power line I used before it. I still have some Reflo Power in my box in larger sizes for when I need it.
I only use Stotz or Micro Cubes now on all my pole rigs and also the waggler. They do not damage the line and you can move them about so easily.
In sizes 12, 11, 10, 9 and 8 I use the Micro Cubes from Guru, and for larger sizes I use the Stotz from Preston.
Hengelsport Hennie Kruidenier in Haaksbergen has the full range of Preston Innovations hooks, line and shot as will as the complete range of Guru end tackle - and there is always a welcome cup of coffee to be had.
An important point is also that I now only use non-toxic shot in the larger sizes. I have chosen to use the shot from Dave Harrell. I use the SSG, AA and BB sizes.
In the UK, lead shot above size 8 is banned - and I think this should be adopted in Europe as well. Keep the shot No. 8 down to No. 13 but make all larger sizes non-toxic.
